The structure and framework are completed in the New Frontiers Agricultural Hall. The roof is expected to be completed in the next 2-3 weeks. Progress also continues on the placement of windows. Workers started on the south end and are moving counterclockwise around the building.

Raising the Roof

Construction crews are raising the roof of the new building! In addition to installing the roof, the curtain windows on the south side were installed as well as other windows throughout the building.

Construction crews are busy framing the chimney, framing out windows and applying sheathing. Currently, 10% of windows have been installed in the building, and window inspections will soon be conducted to test water penetrations.

Final Concrete Pour

The final concrete pour for the new building was completed in the early hours of the morning. This pour finished the concrete for the third level and roof of the middle section of the building.

OSU Students Tour Site

February 23, 2023

OSU construction management students toured the New Frontiers construction site and saw the Hilti JAIBOT in action. The JAIBOT is a semi-automated anchor/hanger point layout and drilling robot utilized for piping and duct systems and the first of its kind to be used in Oklahoma.

Concrete Pour for Middle Section

February 17, 2023

Construction workers poured concrete for the second level of the middle section. Only one concrete pour is left to complete each level of the building.

The construction site is booming with activity as work is being done on all sides of the building. The only concrete left to pour is the middle section starting with the second floor, which will be poured on Feb. 17.

December 2022 has been a great month for building progress on the new home for OSU Agriculture. Framing and siding have begun on the south end of the building and continued progress is being made on setting forms and pouring concrete for the second and third floors on the north end.

OSU-IT Students See JAIBOT in Action

December 6, 2022

The Hilti JAIBOT robot is the first of its kind to be used in Oklahoma and will be utilized on the New Frontiers construction site for the next three months. The robot uses digital plans to configure holes in a building's concrete foundation for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other utility systems. A group of students from the OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, visited the New Frontiers site to watch the robot in action.

North End Building Progress

Rapid progress is being made on the north end of the building. Construction crews are setting forms and pouring concrete for the second and third floors on that end of the building.

The three floors of the new building are being constructed in sections. Construction crews started with the more complicated infrastructure in the research labs on the south side of the building. Currently, they are setting forms to pour the second-floor concrete on the north side of the building and will continue upwards during the next few weeks.

The crane was delivered in pieces to the New Frontiers construction site and was erected in a day. One of the largest to be used in the Stillwater area, the crane is 143 feet tall and 265 feet long. It will be utilized for 1-1.5 years.

The New Frontiers construction site is booming with activity as crews are rapidly drilling the almost 200 piers that will extend down 50 feet to support the building. They also installed the base of the tower crane with 150 tons of concrete in preparation for the remainder of the crane in July.

Construction crews completed the base of the tower crane by pouring 150 tons of concrete that will cure for two weeks. The remainder of the crane is expected to arrive in several pieces the beginning of July.

Drilling Rigs

Drilling rigs are being utilized to dig the specified depth for the New Frontiers building’s piers. The piers are reinforced concrete columns transferring the building’s loads to suitable bearing strata.

Construction is beginning to ramp up with the finalization of bids and the approved financing by the Oklahoma A&M Board of Regents for an extra $15.2 million to support New Frontiers. This action enabled continued progress on the construction site while protecting against any further market inflation.

Small Crane Added to Construction Site

A small crane has been added to the construction site to prepare for the addition of a larger crane next month. It will be one of the largest cranes that has been used in this area and will be prominently seen from across Stillwater.

New Frontiers Construction Headquarters

With the completion of the demolition and cleanup of the 4-H Building, a triple-wide construction trailer has been moved to that site and will serve as the New Frontiers construction headquarters and holding area for materials and equipment.

New Frontiers Cornerstone Donor Kayleen Ferguson visited the construction site to see the progress made on the new state-of-the-art facility for OSU Agriculture. Kayleen and Larry Ferguson's historic gift from the Ferguson Family Foundation launched the New Frontiers fundraising campaign and renamed the College.
