- Who is paying for the New Frontiers Agricultural Hall?
A capital campaign was launched Jan. 15, 2020, to raise $50 million from private donors. A $50 million contribution from the Ferguson Family Foundation, which $25 million is slated for the New Frontiers campaign, kickstarted the campaign. - How many construction man hours will it take to complete the project?
Phase 1 – 3,500 Man Hours
Phase 2 – 275,000 Man Hours
Total – 278,500 Man Hours
- How many people will it take working on the construction site to complete the project?
During the peak of construction, 100-plus workers will be on site during a day. It is estimated 350-400 people will be involved with various work during the duration of the construction project.

- SizeNew Frontiers Agricultural Hall will have 3 full floors aboveground that total 194,091 gross sq. ft. The building occupies an approximate footprint of 400 ft. x 200 ft. near the intersection of Monroe Street and Farm Road.
- LocationNew Frontiers Agricultural Hall is constructed between Animal and Food Sciences building, Noble Research Center and Robert M. Kerr Food and Agricultural Products Center and near Greenhouse Learning Center, Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Laboratory and Ag Hall, which will continue to be utilized for several OSU Agriculture functions.
- OccupancyNew Frontiers Agricultural Hall is designed for 1,960 people (980 male, 980 female) with ADA compliant facilities.
- ShapeNew Frontiers Agricultural Hall is designed in the shape of the Classic Georgian “C” with the outside “C” respectful of the overall OSU historic campus context. The inside of the western facing “C” contains a large amount of glass allowing visitors to view the technology contained within the building.
- Departmental SuitesThere will be 6 academic departments and 3 programs and institutes in shared suites.
- Faculty Offices119 faculty offices are located mainly on upper floors to reduce noise and increase privacy.
- Post-doc OfficesNew Frontiers Agricultural Hall will have 5 double post-doc offices.
- Graduate Student Office SpacesNew Frontiers Agricultural Hall will have 237 graduate student office spaces.
- Conference RoomsNew Frontiers Agricultural Hall will have 11 conference rooms. The conference rooms include an Executive Conference Room, 2 Courtyard Conference Rooms, 3 Stadium Conference Rooms, 2 Departmental Conference Rooms plus another 3 conference rooms.
- Club and Study RoomsNew Frontiers Agricultural Hall will feature 10 dedicated club and study rooms.
- Huddle RoomsNew Frontiers Agricultural Hall will have 19 huddle rooms.
- Undergraduate ActivitiesUndergraduate activities are mostly located on lower floors to increase accessibility to classes and teaching labs.
- ClassroomsNew Frontiers Agricultural Hall will have three 32-seat classrooms, three 48-seat classrooms, one 72-seat classroom and one 175-seat tiered lecture hall that will accommodate 487 students simultaneously.
- Teaching and Computer LabsNew Frontiers Agricultural Hall will have 13 curriculum-specific and shared teaching and computer labs.
- Research Lab Space25,855 sq. ft. of new research lab space is being stacked vertically in the southern wing to facilitate intensive infrastructure sharing. Soils research labs are on the first floor, ecology research labs are on the second floor, and plant, genomi and digital ag research labs are on the third floor. Research labs have four growth rooms, space for seven growth chambers, numerous shared freezers and coolers, seed and grain archive, and dedicated sample prep and grinding spaces.
